Camping trip
Wednesday the 13th of September was the day we received our junior certificate results the excitement and anxiety was uncontrollable I received my results being quite happy, after 10 minutes the moment was forgotten as we were packing our bags on the bus.
Upon our arrival at Lough Dan we were amazed by the beautiful scenery surrounding us we had a short talk about the rules of staying at Lough Dan then a few minutes later we were setting up our tents. There were seven people in my tent all known as good friends. By working together we got our tent up and no less than 15 minutes. I would consider this one of my new skills that I learnt on this camping trip.
The first day of arrival we had to complete a small part of our hike which ended up being 5 km it was a beautiful walk, Lough Dan was truly on the unbelievable. Other than a few rain showers during our hike the weather was fine. As we returned from our walk we were all hungry so decided to cook lunch. I would also say for me the first time cooking on a stove was also another skill that I learned on this trip.
After a surprisingly good sleep and a good morning's breakfast I had packed my bag and was prepared to take on our big hike as part of whoever chose to do gaisce. Throughout this walk I talked to people I wouldn't have talked to you as much before which I think has made me get to know more people in my year. After our third break and having to walk through a river we were exhausted but as we returned to our campsite we were happy to hear we could go swimming in the lake, after my energy had been drained I was very excited to go swimming. The water was freezing so after we had swam it was a race to the lovely warm showers.
After our swim we all sat down and ate a burger as the teachers kindly made a burger for everyone. As it came to my favourite part of the trip we were filled back with energy after having a long break from the hike.
My highlight of the camping trip was when it started to become dark as we all sat down by the fire ,singing songs and eating marshmallows , This was the most fun part of the trip for me.
On The morning of our last day the fun had come to an end, but nobody was sad as they comfortable beds.
I loved my T.Y. camping trip because of learning new skills and activities and I willl definitely never forget this amazing trip.
