My Carlingford Adventure Experience
On the 19th of February my year went to the Carlingford Adventure Centre for a four day experience. The ethos of the Centre is to offer fun and challenging activities in a safe and friendly
environment. It is done every year in St. Gerards for the Transition Year students as part of there Transition Year experience.
environment. It is done every year in St. Gerards for the Transition Year students as part of there Transition Year experience.
One of the first activities we participated in was the the Skypark. The Skypark is Irelands biggest skyline Adventure park. As our first activity I found this very fun and thrilling as the first activity of Carlingford. I have been to a few zip line parks and was ok with the course. Nobody was forced to do anything they didn't feel comfortable with so some people didn't participate in the (hard) part of the course.
Along with many other people one of my favourite activities was the laser combat. It was located in a very cool place up in the forest beside the Adventure centre. I just thought this was the best activity as I had the most fun with my year doing this activity. We had different objectives such as capture the flag, total annihilation, pilot down and sniper school.
Although there were many activities I did like there were some I disliked such as the crystal maze
I didn't enjoy this activity as it was very cold and some things we had to do were quite boring and very time consuming.
Out of all the Activities I found that teamwork applies the most towards canoeing. It was my first time experiencing canoeing when at Carlingford. Once the whole team works together canoeing can be really fun but the freezing cold water and Irish weather is a bit of a downside during it. Once we were finished we all ran for the lovely warm showers. I thought that canoeing was a very good activity to participate in at Carlingford and a very good team building activity.
